Some time after we booked and paid for our ceremony at the Memorial Chapel, scaffolding was put up on the steeple, and the Memorial Chapel offered to refund any couple $200 credit in light of this. Three weeks before the wedding we had to move our ceremony and reception to a different location. We did not expect to receive a full refund but we did still expect the $200 credit, since the scaffolding did play into our decision to move the ceremony (rather than shuttle guests from the new reception location.) However, Denise McHugh, the Chapel manager, told us we could only get the credit if we at least stopped by the Chapel on our wedding day to use it for pictures. This is a ridiculous policy. Why would they not give us the same refund as every other couple? If anything we were saving them money but not having our ceremony there, yet it cost $200 more for us to not have our wedding at the Memorial Chapel compared to any other couple who did have their ceremony there. We felt that Denise and the Memorial Chapel were very unreasonable about this and we feel cheated out of our money.
